OpenAI launches AI-powered advertising platform with Sponsored Agents

OpenAI introduced Sponsored Agents that let ChatGPT users converse with business-sponsored bots after clicking ads, plus new AI tools for campaign creation and integrations with HubSpot and Shopify. Commerce teams can now automate ad management workflows and reach customers in a conversational AI environment without rebuilding their existing marketing stack.

OpenAI is rolling out new AI-powered advertising experiences designed to make ads more useful for consumers and easier for businesses to manage (OpenAI News). The company is testing Sponsored Agents, which allow users to start a conversation with a business-sponsored agent after clicking an ad in ChatGPT, enabling deeper product exploration and personalized customer engagement (OpenAI News). Sponsored Agents are currently being tested with select advertisers in the United States (OpenAI News).

On the advertiser side, OpenAI is introducing AI-assisted campaign creation and management tools. Advertisers can now use natural-language prompts in ChatGPT to create, update, and analyze campaigns directly, and receive AI-suggested copy and imagery based on their landing page and campaign objective (OpenAI News). The company is also rolling out AI-powered text customization that adapts headlines and descriptions to conversation context and automatically translates ad copy to a user's preferred language (OpenAI News). For commerce practitioners, these tools reduce the manual overhead of campaign management while keeping advertisers in control through review and approval workflows.

To lower adoption friction, OpenAI is integrating ChatGPT Ads into HubSpot and Shopify as its first CRM and ecommerce partners (OpenAI News). Businesses can now manage ads, track performance, and follow up on leads directly within their existing marketing and ecommerce platforms, starting today in the US for both integrations (OpenAI News).
