AWS deploys multimodal WhatsApp ordering assistant with Bedrock AgentCore

AWS published a reference architecture for a multimodal WhatsApp ordering assistant built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and Amazon Nova 2, supporting text, voice notes, and voice calls through a single WhatsApp Business number with cross-channel customer memory. Commerce teams can now unify fragmented ordering channels (app, website, phone, counter) into one conversational interface that recognizes customers across text, voice, and call interactions without requiring app installation or sign-in.

AWS released a production-ready architecture for deploying a multimodal WhatsApp ordering assistant using AWS Machine Learning Blog. The solution runs on a single WhatsApp Business number and handles text messages, voice notes, and voice calls through the same backend, with AWS Machine Learning Blog. The architecture maintains AWS Machine Learning Blog, so customers recognized as the same person across channels.

The design separates the WhatsApp layer, agent runtimes, and restaurant backend to keep each independently deployable. AWS Machine Learning Blog. For commerce teams, this eliminates channel fragmentation—customers no longer need to install an app or sign in, and order history persists whether they text today or call tomorrow. The entire system deploys via AWS Machine Learning Blog.

The architecture handles inbound traffic asynchronously through AWS Machine Learning Blog, and voice calls run through AWS Machine Learning Blog. This reference implementation shows how quick-service restaurants can consolidate ordering across multiple channels into one AI-driven conversational system.
