Running Supply Inc. is implementing Relex Solutions' AI-powered platform to strengthen planning and unify operations management across its distribution centers and stores. The project, which began in summer, will deploy in stages starting with store forecasting and replenishment, followed by distribution center capabilities, both scheduled to go live by mid-2027. Future phases include pricing and promotion optimization, assortment planning, and space and floor planning.
Relex's platform manages day-to-day ordering using a single demand forecast that accounts for seasonality and promotions while setting stock levels and order quantities across the network. Runnings' director of information technology emphasized the shift toward automated, exception-based processes where the team investigates only significant anomalies—such as large unexpected forecast changes—rather than reviewing every order manually. This approach enables the retailer to scale its network without increasing operational workload. Retail consultancy RetSci is leading the implementation as systems integrator and project manager.
Runnings joins a growing cohort of major retailers leveraging Relex's capabilities to unite supply chain operations. Dollar General, Lowe's, and Bed Bath & Beyond's parent company Neighborhood Intelligence have all adopted similar Relex-based solutions to coordinate planning across their store and distribution networks, signaling an industry trend toward AI-driven unified forecasting and replenishment.
