Shopify enables Muse and AI agents to sell without custom integration

Shopify Catalog now surfaces products in Meta's Muse personal AI agent and other shopping-focused AI channels, with Shop Pay checkout available automatically—no custom integrations required. Commerce teams can launch in agentic channels with settings changes instead of months of platform engineering, letting them focus on product data and brand storytelling instead of repeated compliance and protocol work.

Shopify has integrated its Catalog and checkout infrastructure with Meta's Muse personal AI agent and other emerging agentic shopping channels. Shopify Catalog surfaces products in real time with accurate pricing, inventory, and availability data; shoppers can build carts and approve purchases within Muse, then complete checkout via Shopify's unified infrastructure with Shop Pay as a payment option. For eligible Shopify merchants, this functionality is available out of the box with no custom integration work required.

The move addresses a critical friction point for commerce leaders evaluating AI shopping channels. While the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) provides a shared language for checkout and orders, each AI platform still runs its own catalog intake, eligibility rules, and approval process. Brands building direct integrations face repeated work across multiple platforms and markets—securing endpoints, maintaining real-time data accuracy, handling platform-specific payments and fraud checks, and managing ongoing compliance as standards evolve. By handling this standard work on the platform layer, Shopify lets merchants focus their engineering effort on product data quality, brand knowledge bases, and customer experience differentiation instead of protocol maintenance.

Merchants retain control over where they appear, which checkout rules apply, and how orders are fulfilled and tracked. Orders from Muse appear in Shopify Admin attributed to Meta AI, and merchants remain the merchant of record with full ownership of the customer relationship. Shopify suggests the approach as a model for the wave of new AI shopping channels expected to emerge—letting teams test new channels with minimal cost and learn from real order data rather than forecasts.
