Amazon expands Alexa for Shopping with over 100 new capabilities

Amazon has upgraded Alexa for Shopping with more than 100 additional capabilities including subscription management, billing inquiries, and registry editing, available now in the U.S. The move comes as over 400 million customers have used the tool in the past year, with Alexa shoppers spending 50% more per order than non-users—a significant signal for commerce teams building conversational shopping strategies.

Amazon has enhanced its Alexa for Shopping tool with more than 100 new capabilities, available in the Amazon Shopping app and online for U.S. customers. The new features enable shoppers to create and edit registries, manage subscriptions, change delivery instructions, and resolve billing and payment questions through voice interaction.

Over 400 million customers have used Alexa for Shopping in the past 12 months, and the tool has become a revenue driver for the e-commerce giant. According to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, U.S. customers using Alexa for Shopping spend 50% more per order than those who don't. This performance underscores the commercial value of conversational shopping interfaces and positions voice-driven commerce as a core engagement channel for Amazon's retail business.

The expansion reflects Amazon's broader strategy to establish Alexa for Shopping as the primary shopping agent for its platform. The company has moved aggressively to protect this position, requesting that Meta remove Amazon from its Muse AI agent and taking legal action against Perplexity's Comet AI agent for making unauthorized purchases on customers' behalf.
